Most goalie coaches will get you out on the ice and run you through a series of drills. They will create a curriculum based on repetition of movement. All of that is fine. But the most important part of the process is missing; repetition of thought.
How do we get the goalie to self-correct? To instantly recognize a situation and instinctively know what to do and where to be? To have stored enough information and rehearsed enough times to recognize a moment on the ice as familiar, call up the actions and results of a previous, similar play, and make a move accordingly?
We do it through video.
