WHO ARE THE EXPERTS?
Why do we do this? Aren't there enough goalie experts out there? Well....no. The Central Scouting Bureau for the NHL has a Goalie Checklist. Right there on the front page it asks if the goalie "consistently squares to the puck carrier." Really? How about squaring to the puck? Hockey East Goalies have NHL PLayoff Impact
Jimmy Howard (Maine), Dawyne Roloson (Lowell), Tim Thomas (Vermont), Corey Schneider (BC), are all still plugging away in the NHL playoffs. If you count Jon Quick's (UMass) first-round battle that's 5 current Hockey East schools with goalies in the NHL's Top 16. Pretty impressive. Jimmy Howard was the best Hockey East goalie we've ever seen. A close second was Sean Fields at BU and he never really panned out as a pro. His last known address was with the Utah Grizzlies in the 06-07 season. Yes, Quick is up there but her really only had one full year as the starter at UMass (and what a year it was) before moving on.
